a bad day but today is good. >>> it is a big weekend in san francisco with more than a million people expected to pack the streets. tara moriarty is in the city with more on why you should expect big delays. >> reporter: we are here near pier 29 where come this weekend one northbound lane will be shut down from the ferry building all the way to bay street. that will allow emergency vehicles access in through the crowds. if you pan to the left, you can see we're in front of the official america's cup store. the cup is expected to draw 40,000 people this weekend to watch the races. and there are many more events planned. this will give city officials are a little bit of an idea of what to expect for the big america's cup next year where more than three million people are expected to attend. over the skies of san francisco this weekend, you will see the beloved blue angels. the u.s. navy pilots have been making practice runs for the big show set for saturday and sunday. it's part of fleet week and the parade of ships is tomorrow. here's a look at the other events going on. the gia

second person is still on the loose this morning. san francisco police say think all began when officers tried to make a traffic stop for a light that was out on the license plate on the car. something very simple but it ended with this dangerous crash and the shooting and the sergeant we talked to says he feels lucky no officers were hurt. >> no one else was seriously hurt. the only injury i know of at this point is a hurt hand. given all things that could have gone wrong, i think this is pretty good. >> reporter: so san francisco police still out here investigating this morning. one interesting thing you can see sort of how violent this crash was. we saw a police officer who was carrying off the top of a parking meter. it was sheered off as a result of this accident this morning. police believe they have arrested the passenger inside this car. they are still looking for the driver of the car and at this point it's unclear why they ran from police this morning. the only thing the sergeant could come up with because they had a gun inside the car. live this morning in san francis

euphoria of winning the national league pennant. it swept through san francisco and beyond. giants fans ecstatic as they took to the street. tara moriarty is at at&t park. i would imagine they are sleeping at this point. >> reporter: seems like all is quiet out here. a word to the wise, perhaps the detroit tigers might want to consider not taking a three game lead over the giants in the world series. just kidding but wow, what a game last night. 40,000 fans were drenched from the downpour at the end of the game but didn't care. no amount of rain was going to keep them from seeing the giants clench their division, this after being down three games to one in the is series against the cardinals, the electricity in the stands, in the coffee cove and in the streets was palpable. >> we are back in the world series and we are going to win this whole thing. >> amazing. i was going to have a heart attack. >> reporter: now, this afternoon the tigers and the giants will begin their workouts. they will play here at home wednesday and thursday night at 5:00. saturday, sunday, monday they head t

of the racing yachts practicing for the america's club in san francisco bay. artimus basis says the front of its catamoran was badly damaged. coming up tonight at 10:30, san francisco's civic center transformed. the sport event generating a lot of money for the city and also a little controversy. >>> happening now, firefighters are reporting progress on their efforts to contain a wildfire near clear lake. the so called 29 fire started just before 3:00 this afternoon along highway 29 above a street in the community of lower lake. calfire say it is fire has burned 300 acres and there are mandatory evacuations tonight for the mercy spring subdivision. the fire has also downed some power lines. calfire says right now the fire is only 20% contained. but if there is some good news is that crews say they have managed to halt the forward spread of the fire. at this point there are no reports of any injuries. >>> firefighters near santa barbara say a fire burning near the hills there is fully contained. the fire burned near some homes yesterday but that is no longer the case. firefighters sa

san francisco but in some parts of the city the victory celebration turned into and ugly scene. >> we begin with ali. >> reporter: fortunately it was the kinds of damage that was eltifl easy to clean -- relatively easy to clean up. if you look here in the middle of the street, you can see a pile of garbage still out in the middle of the street. that was the burnt out contents of one of the many dumpsters that was lit on fire an on this stretch of road. so far, there are no reports of any businesses damaged in the mission neighborhood. this intersection, you can see open to traffic but it was a very different scene here a few hours ago. police lined the intersection of 16th and mission early this morning. they set up a command center of sorts, a lot of vehicles and a hundred officers at that intersection. we saw police make some arrests. and this was after fans and rowdy crowds set several dumpsters on fire in the middle of mission street. some of those dumpsters kept flaring up and smoldering for hours. >> we started around 24th and mission and here we are at 16th and mission and ever
